other memories is a print and web based project which engages with and expands and enlivens the archives of performance through a non-linear reading experience. This first episode focuses on the 43 part series Danger Music (1961–64) by Dick Higgins.
other memories invites participation through a system, slowing the speed at which we’ve become accustomed to gaining information through living with the internet. Through the collection of an invitation, in the form of a postcard, you are invited to a website to enter your address information to further engage with the project.
A folio-publication is sent out which firstly leads the participant to a second website. The folio contains ephemeral printed materials prompting its owner to make links between these materials and a digital sphere which contains a greater depth of information.

The project explores the legitimacy of print and the validation of what was, and is, archived. It considers what an archive or collection can be, questioning the retention and ownership of physical materials.
An Examiners’ Award for Excellence goes to Matthew Walkerdine for his project ‘Other memories episode one’. The examiners commend the comprehensive progression of reflective practice through each of the ‘discovery’, ‘transformation’ and ‘making’ stages. They also particularly note the high level of critical reflection in the associated project report.
