A History of… explores the background, impact and catalogue of an independent record label celebrating those who changed the music industry. Dedicating a single issue to a different label, each volume offers a unique insight into how these unique platforms shaped musical history to what it has become today.

Each issue is an introduction for the newcomer and a compendium for the completist, collecting interviews, new writing, archival material and wider contextual information to cover an overarching history of the label. A History of… presents hard to find archival materials, a full label catalogue, a comprehensive time line, and unusual facts and observations.

The aim of the publication is to break down barriers and introduce the essence and catalogue of a featured label to both existing and new fans. Packed with essays and contributions from writers, musicians and other creatives, interviews with those who worked with the label and a new introduction.
