Non-linear narratives through the stories of the 3.11 earthquake | Emi Iida
This project explores non-linearity through multiple narratives about the earthquake and tsunami that devastated north-eastern Japan in 2011. The publication weaves together positive and negative stories about lived experience, and hidden messages in place names.
In the printed version, the two narratives are presented in horizontal and vertical format. In the digital format, one narrative is hidden under black boxes. In both approaches, the reader reveals the second narrative by interacting with the publication: interacting with elements on the screen, and by turning the book around.
