The ICMA Centre Wayfinding · Yana Kyrylovska
A wayfinding system was designed for the ICMA Centre at the University of Reading to improve navigation and help students, staff, and visitors move through the building more easily. Through external and internal signage, users can more easily locate destinations and understand the layout of the building.

Through site analysis, user research and mind mapping, I explored how people move through the ICMA Centre and where navigation difficulties occur. The findings formed the basis for a signage system designed to make it easier to find one’s way around and make decisions throughout the building.

To meet the bilingual requirements of the project, all information is presented in both English and Ukrainian. The information hierarchy was designed to help users quickly identify destinations, directions quickly and the system consistently used across different sign types.

A custom set of pictograms and directional arrows was developed to create a consistent visual language throughout the building.
