MA Communication Design student work

The ICMA Centre · Arun Benedict

A wayfinding system was developed for the ICMA Centre at the University of Reading to improve clarity, orientation, and ease of movement across its two‑wing academic layout. Through detailed site analysis, user research, and behavioural mapping, the project identifies how students, staff, and visitors navigate the building and where existing signage fails to support decision‑making.

The proposed system introduces a clear hierarchy of information, consistent typography, and structured directional logic to guide users between classrooms, offices, lecture theatres, and facilities. The design strengthens early‑stage orientation, improves decision‑point clarity, and reflects the building’s professional identity through a minimal, coherent visual language.
