Nigerian Women in Stem Campaign | Ajoke Cardoso
In Nigeria, the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS) estimates that only 22% of graduates in STEM subjects are women. Key factors behind this gender gap are gender stereotypes, a lack of role models for women, male-dominated cultures, and maths anxiety.
To address the gender disparity in STEM fields in Nigeria, This campaign aims to challenge stereotypes, foster interest, and create an inclusive environment to encourage more women to pursue STEM education and careers. Bringing women and other marginalized groups into technology results in more creative solutions and potential for innovations that meet women’s needs.
