Women’s safety on UK streets | Claire Jones

During the pandemic, the awareness of domestic violence heightened and, as a result, women’s safety in general became an increasing cause for concern. There is a darkness surrounding women’s safety on UK streets and violence against women is rising.

Data analysis

A campaign focusing on women and their perception of safety on the street was developed. This ties in with the theme of women’s safety and violence against women; in particular, the threat and target associated with being a woman, walking alone at night. The concept of ‘walking home’ was selected, the visualisations of data aimed to educate, inform and induce action.
