Reading Community Arts Centre | Rana Al-Mualim

The Reading Community Arts Centre is an upcoming culture hub in the centre of Reading, located near the river Thames. It will have an outdoor area, and a wide range of exhibitions. Cultural events will be hosted in the library, cinema and other facilities. It will have a wide range of visitors from all kinds of ages and backgrounds.

Elements of the visual identity for the centre

The wayfinding strategy was to use the foyer and passage area as a connector between two districts: the east wing and the west wing. Destinations were grouped and colour coded: Locations on the East wing were coded in Yellow, and locations on the West wing were coded in red. Green was used for the outer area.

The large statue on the foyer is visible from the main entrance, so was used as a landmark to orientate users and provide information about destinations.

Sign specification

A map was developed, which was then used on signage and on printed materials.
