Tabloid typeface

Tabloid | Angel Kwong | 2019

A multiscript typeface covering Arabic, Chinese, and Latin for reading online materials on the go.

Taking cues from Tabloids (a type of popular newspaper in smaller format with short, simple articles, often heavily-illustrated), this family which are similar to what we read on our digital devices nowadays. Tabloid is developed for typesetting both hierarchical editorial contents and simple, short articles, for example, news, blog posts, and passages on social media.

In this type family, the same concepts and tone of voice are applied across the three scripts. Similarities include: relatively low contrast in stroke thickness, elegance in the flow of letters, open counters for legibility, and large character proportions.
